We provide a free, easy to use website builder that's geared towards providing clean, functional websites and free hosting to nonprofits, community organizations, select individuals, and some small businesses.  We don't provide corporate hosting for a fee.  If you're interested in trying us out, please send an email to us at service@ligatype.org.  Include your organization name and purpose, and include your contact information as well as a phone number where we can reach you.

About LigaType

LigaType is a very simple website builder (CMS, or content management system) and skin system. It features:

• Simple and Easy to Use.  Easy to type URLs for stuff.  You can add a link to a page before a page even exists.
• Unlimited Elements A standard HTML skin to lay out the site can use any number of common elements such as a sidebar, header or a footer.
• Nested Elements The system uses the most specific site elements such as header and footer as available. It looks in specific folders from top to bottom for the elements each skin needs.
• Plain HTML Individual pages and other site elements are just plain old web page files.  The skinner skins out the content from your pages and inserts that into the skin in the right place.
• Multi-Site You can put a bunch of sites that use the system on the same machine, and they all use the same system.
• Database-Free The system doesn't use any kind of database - so it is trivially easy to move, and it uses a very generic PHP installation.
• Small, Fast It's small. It's fast! It's small and fast.
• Will be Open Source We just haven't figured out what license to use yet!

Update 2008-12-10

This update provides easy skin upload and download, as well as folder configuration for skins, allowing you to set a skin to use for each folder and its contents.  We also under the hood added some support for additional plugins:  Navigation bar, multimedia posting, blog and directory lists, and syndication (podcasts).
